Students of Colchester Sixth Form College in UK Visited SEVANATHA for experience sharing
A team of 18 Students and 02 Teachers of Colchester Sixth Form College in UK had Visited SEVANATHA on 13th February, 2015. The purpose of this visit was to get an exposure to community related work carried out by NGOs and other CSOs. The first session was to explain the students about SEVANATHA, its innovations and to present currently implementing projects. Mr.Jayaratne, President of SEVANATHA made a presentation to the students.
Subsequently, the students and teachers were given an opportunity to visit two (02) community upgrading projects in the City of Colombo implemented by SEVANATHA in partnership with Colombo Municipal Council and the Women’s Coop of Sri Lanka. These community Projects were implemented under the UK Aids assisted, Reall,UK executed Community Empowerment Project in Colombo. The students had opportunity to learn how poor communities, particularly women given the leadership in planning, implementation and maintenances of Community infrastructure such as common toilets, common water taps, a community center, storm water and drainage in communities.
