In partnership with the Sussex University of the U.K., CMRD and SEVANATHA have implemented a community intervention project for a plantation Community in Mahathenna of Sarnia Estate, Kandegedara, Badulla.

It is a gravity water supply system which was completed and handed over to the community on 01st September 2023. About 112 families directly got water connection to their houses. Then after 06 months of handing over the project to the community, the CMRD and SEVANATHA team visited the water source and inspected the collection chamber, storage tanks and the total supply system and held a community meeting too. It is happy to note that although there are some minor issues related to the caretaker’s influence on the water supply system the overall functioning is commendable. The team has met the Regional Manager of Sarnia Estate Mr. Kasun Samaradiwakara and briefed him also on the issues and agreed to work collaboratively to make ensure the sustainability of the Water Supply System.
