The Colombo Urban Settlements Survey was conducted by SEVANATHA and Colombo Urban Lab (CUL) in partnership with Colombo Municipal Council.SEVANATHA and Colombo Municipal Council have completed two previous surveys on Colombo Settlements in 2002 and 2012 and the profiles were published on these surveys. After 2012, this survey was conducted again in the year 2022/2023 with the objective ofupdating the profile of Colombo Settlements. The SEVANATHA team successfully completed

this survey from April to August 2023 with the contribution of community leaders and community members in the settlements. After analyzing the data from the survey, SEVANATHA and the CUL team prepared a detailed profile of the settlements in Colombo City covering the social, physical and environmental aspects of the communities.

The Colombo Settlements Survey 2023 profile was launched on the 14 th of March 2024 by inviting the Municipal Commissioner of the Colombo Municipal Council Madam Bhadranie Jayawardhana being the chief guest at the event.

A number of senior officers of Colombo Municipal Council, relevant government institutions, Universities, the Private sector and NGOs participated at the launching event. The key members of the project team consisting of SEVANATHA and Colombo Urban Lab, also attended the event.
