A Thai Architect helps SEVANATHA/CLAFNet to promote Environment friendly Low Cost Housing, Option for Women’s Coop Member

The Community Livelihood Action Facility Network (CLAFNet) coordinated by SEVANATHA is implementing Environmental Friendly Low Cost Housing program collaboration with Women’s Coop under the technical advice from a reputed Architect Chatsiri Thanmaron from Thailand.
CLAFNET with Women’s Coop Branch in Kajuduwa, has already started a factory for making compressed soil cement bricks. It has already built a model house in Kajuduwa. Mr. Chatsiri has advised both CLAFNET and Women’s Coop to expand this experience to meet the housing demand of the area. He has trained the field staff of CLAFNet and designed houses with community participation of Women’s Coop members.
Benefits of the approach are;
 This technology needs less sand for construction
 Promote Environmentally friendly green architectures
 Construction cost can be reduced by 15%-50%
 Create employment for local people .
